The "While You Were Away" series of books and journals are designed to support families experiencing periods of prolonged absence or deployment, moving, re-integration or just life as a military family. Books and journals, as well as professional training and/or workshops, are available for families, educators, support workers (such as school liaison officers, deployment specialists, social workers, families, parents and anyone involved in supporting military families).
Megan Egerton Graham is the author and creator of the While You Were Away series of books. She is a Principal and has been a teacher and guidance counsellor for 15 years. She has taught every grade from Kindergarten to grade 12. Her specialists are in Guidance and Special Education. She now works as a Principal for the Ottawa Carleton School Board and writes books and tips columns for military families, educators and support staff. Megan has taught on military base schools and is a military wife and mother of two. Her husband continues to be an active member of the Canadian forces. She has also written a Deployment Handbook and Reunion Handbook for the Canadian Forces and continues to work with Military Resource Centers both in Canada and the US. Her books and resources are in use across North America.
Our primary aim is to provide products and services that support children, teens and families during periods of extended absence of parents and/or other significant family members or friends. These absences could be a result of military deployments, business travel or other reasons.
